Member of Irish Coastguard dies off Clare coast
A member of the Irish Coastguard has died during a rescue operation off the Kilkee coast in Co. Clare.
A second crew member - who was understood to be trapped in a cave - has been rescued. His condition is described as stable.
A third member of the crew was rescued and taken to hospital.
It's understood the rib was involved in an ongoing search operation for a missing man at the time of the incident.
Superintendent Brendan McDonagh praised the work of all involved in the rescue effort:
