Mercy Hospital has high volume of patients waiting on trolleys today

Almost 260 people are waiting on a bed at hospitals across the country.

The Mercy University Hospital is under increased pressure today with 19 patients awaiting admission, and Cork University Hospital has 18.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reports 200 people are on trolley's while a further 58 are in overflow areas of wards.

According to the latest trolley watch report - University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded with 32 people in need of a bed.

Speaking to RedFM news General Secretary of the INMO Liam Doran says overcrowding will remain part of the Health System unless the Government deals with core issues affecting nurses:
