Met Eireann is briefing local authorities this morning on a potential 'significant snow event' next week
A cold front from Siberia will move in from the east and meet with a low pressure system resulting in snow
Temperatures are set to drop from this weekend and could reach as low as minus 3 next week.
Temperatures across Cork will struggle to get past 1 degree from next Tuesday with Wednesday set to be very cold and snow falls are expected in places.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says we could see a repeat of Storm Emma in 2018:
"So the potential there I suppose would be in some way similar to what we saw with Storm Emma, where you have a low system that comes and meets the the cold air and then stalls, and you end up with high accumulations of snow and snow drifts and very heavy snow right, extending into many areas"
