Minimum charge for re-cycling waste to be removed

Housing Minister Simon Coveney made the comments today.
Minister Simon Coveney is to remove the minimum charge for re-cycling waste.
The Minister says from July the majority of households will now be charged in a new, fairer and more transparent way for the collection of their waste.
He says this new charging structure has the potential to divert material from landfill and give families more control over their waste management costs along with further driving an increase in recycling rates.
Minister Coveney says it will also help Ireland achieve current and future EU recycling and landfill waste targets.
The Department of the Environment says the vast majority of households will reduce their waste bills, but waste operators have yet to announce what they’ll charge per bin.
