Minister calls for inquiry into whistleblower alligations
A Cork TD says a Commission of Inquiry needs to be set up quickly to avoid a political crisis.
Calls have been made for a snap general election to be called over the Government's handling of allegations against Garda Sergeant Maurice McCabe.
It's after it emerged that the health authority's National Counselling Service referred a baseless allegation of abuse to the Child Protection Services in August 2013.
Fianna Fáil's justice spokesman is insisting Tusla's role in the whistleblower controversy was flagged with Frances Fitzgerald in a meeting on Wednesday.
She maintains she found out on Thursday.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Minister Coveney says he believes France Fitzgerald's version of events, but the most important thing is put an end to the affair in a credible way:
