Minister says the government is aware of struggles flood-hit Fermoy locals face trying to obtain insurance

Concerns are mounting in a North Cork town where flood-hit locals say they're still struggling to get insurance cover despite the construction of flood defences.

Some traders and householders in Fermoy say it's clear that the €38 million flood defences are working however they're still being denied insurance.

The Minister of State at the Department of Finance with responsibility for insurance has confirmed to the newsroom that the Government is aware of the issues in the Fermoy town.
And speaking to RedFM News Minister Michael D'Arcy says Fermoy's demountable flood barriers are the main issue but they're working with Insurance Ireland to overcome the obstacle:
