Minister says water charges must be paid for

Minister Simon Coveney says water charges are unlikely to return in the same model as before.
However, he said that water still needs to be paid for.
The charges were finally suspended after a widespread campaign against the charges, which began here in Cork 2 years ago, quickly spread around the country before the charges were suspended in the Summer time.
Fianna Fáil are now calling for water to be paid for through general taxation, but former Environment Minister Alan Kelly says it would be illegal to scrap the charges.
