Motorists are being advised to be aware of the changeable weather conditions.
Last weekend six people lost their lives on the country's roads, including a Cork motorcyclist.
The Road Safety Authority has issued the warning as thousands take to the roads this Bank Holiday Weekend which is regarded as a high risk period on roads.
Speaking to RedFM News Brian Farrell of the RSA says motorists need to be extra careful on the roads at this time of year:
