National Ambulance Service Critical Of Loss of Service To Millstreet

The National Ambulance Service says lives in North Cork are at risk because of the withdrawal of the local ambulance service
Local councillors in Millstreet have criticised the HSE for their decision to remove the towns ambulance service, replacing it with an emergency response paramedic whose car cannot transfer a patient to hospital.
Before it was axed last month, the Millstreet ambulance handled an average of four calls a day to a largely rural area with an elderly population.
Councillors are calling on senior managment at the HSE to attend a meeting in County Hall to explain these decision, and to give reasons for continuing cutbacks to services.
Speaking to RedFM News National Ambulance Service Chairman Michael Dixon says this issue has become all too familiar in rural areas of the county:
