National Ambulance Service say services across Cork is slowly being eroded because of lack of investment by the Government

The comments come following the HSE's withdrawal of the ambulance service in Millstreet, an area which is over an hour's drive from Cork University Hospital

The Service has been replaced by an emergency response paramedic however patients cannot be transported to hospital in the vehicle.

It comes on foot of a report from the HSE which states rapid response paramedic cars are only effective in urban areas.

Speaking to RedFM News National Ambulance Service Chairman Michael Dixon says the use of community first responders is a useful stop gap, but volunteers can only go so far.
