National Broadband Plan Could Be Delayed By Five Years

The National Broadband Plan could be delayed by five years if the existing deal isn't signed, according to Fine Gael.
It's after the Oireachtas communications committee called for radical changes to the €3 billion deal.
Earlier this week the government announced that €290 million would be made available to deliver fibre broadband to almost 75,000 homes in Cork.
The communications committee want an expert to be appointed to assess delivering it through a different model - and for the plan to remain in public ownership.
But Fine Gael rejects the recommendations, including Senator Joe O'Reilly, who's on the committee.
