Cancer remains the main cause of death and illness in Cork
That's according to Irish Life which paid out over €14 million in claims to customers and their families across Cork who were affected by illness and death last year.
That figure is part of a national report which provides a unique insight into the health of the people of Ireland and includes a breakdown of illnesses and conditions prevalent in Ireland.
€9.3 million was paid out to 173 customers and their families in Cork affected by illness and death during 2016 with cancer identified as the biggest cause of Life Insurance and Specified illness claims in Cork.
