New action plan has called for serious efforts to diversify apprenticeships

It aims to see 10,000 new apprentices a year by 2025 while making it a more mainstream choice of education for people
Employers will be given financial incentives to take on apprentices from under-represented backgrounds including women, people living in direct provision and people with a disability.
Rosario Rowe is completing an accounting apprenticeship in the National Gallery and highly recommends the route:
"Enrolling in the accounting technicians apprenticeship programme has given me the opportunity to get back to the workforce after spending many years as a stay at home mom, and at the same time is bringing my old business degree, very old business degree, up to date. I am looking at maybe becoming chartered tax advisor."
