New Blueway in Bantry hopes to attract more tourists.

It's hoped that the new Bantry Blueway will boost tourism in the local area.

Blueways are water paths or trails designed for kayakers, paddle borders and canoeists and the first one ever in Munster was launched this week. 

It's set to take paddlers on one of three trails through Bantry Harbour and will be anywhere from 2 to 9 kilometres in length. 

The Blueway will consist of launch points, camping locations and points of interests such as Whiddy Island and the Abbey Slipway. 

Speaking to RedFM News, Harbour Master of the Port of Cork Company Captain Paul O'Regan says its likely visitors to the Blueway will stay to experience what West Cork has to offer:
