New EU report sparks fresh waves of protest against incinerator

Protesters against the proposed Ringaskiddy Incinerator have vowed to continue their campaign following the release of a new report.
The European Commission released a new "waste-to-energy" document last month, setting out the role of incineration as a form of waste management.
The Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment (CHASE) says the report clearly states that public money should not be spent on the construction of such facilities, while other areas of waste management is explored.
However Indaver, who's application to build a €160 million euro Incinerator in Ringaskiddy is currently before An Bord Pleanala, says the report highlights the importance of disposing of waste as near as possible to where it is produced.
Speaking to RedFM News spokesperson for CHASE Linda Fitzpatrick says the report clearly states that incineration is not the way forward:
