New initiative launched to tackle rural theft

It is a joint effort known as Theft Stop.
A new initiative aimed at tackling theft in rural areas has been launched nationwide - with various meetings being held on the project over the coming weeks in Cork.
Theft Stop is a joint effort by the Irish Farmers Association and An Gardaí Síochanna and is designed to both deter criminals and to recover stolen items.
It will see machinery clearly marked with a unique ID and those details are then registered on Theft Stop's nationwide database.
