New planning application for Ringaskiddy incinerator in the pipeline
The fresh planning application will be lodged to An Bord Pleanála in January.
Indaver has announced plans to lodge a new planning application for a controversial €160m incinerator in Ringaskiddy.
The news comes after the company was refused planning by An Bord Pleanála four years ago but has since held a number of public information sessions this year.
The waste-to-energy facility would have a capacity to accept 240,000 tonnes of household, commercial, industrial and hazardous waste each year.
The fresh planning application, which will be lodged to An Bord Pleanála in January, is expected to face stiff opposition from residents of the Lower Harbour area.
The Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment group fought a bitter battle with Indaver to oppose previous attempts to build an incinerator.
However speaking to RedFM News Mary O'Leary of Chase says communities in Cork Harbour are worried.
