New Report On Alternative To Flood Relief Scheme Launched Today
Save Cork City Group have released a new report today addressing criticism of their alternative submission to the OPW's Flood Relief Scheme for the city.
The group commissioned the report from an independent civil engineering company, on a number of issues including the cost of a proposed tidal barrier and the time frame to build it.
Earlier this year engineers from the OPW said their plan for barrier at Little Island was "vague on details" and "not feasible".
The report shows a working barrier could be constructed in three years at a cost of €140 million euro.
The OPW have reiterated their belief that a tidal barrier is not currently viable and would cost many times the figures being put forward by the Savecorkcity group.
