New Sheltered Housing Planned for Cork

Cork City council have approved a new sheltered housing scheme for the over 60's.

The Irish Examiner reports that Mahon, Farranree, Tramore Rd. and Woods St close to Washington St  have been earmarked as sites for the development of one and two bedroom homes.

The project is primarily aimed at those over 60 who are considering downsizing from larger council owned homes, with the aim of freeing up larger council homes to families on the housing waiting list.

An approved housing body will manage the housing development, and a caretaker will live on site.
