New student accommodation given the green light
A €75 million euro student accommodation complex has been given the go ahead in the city.
An Bord Pleanala has given the green light for the construction of the 205 bed student development near UCC, to UK based firm Ziggurat.
The Evening Echo reports that the planning permission was granted despite objections by local residents and businesses.
It's hoped the development will alleviate the severe shortage of high quality student accommodation in Cork.
Ziggurat says they plan to create an additional 1,000 student beds in the city in the future.
