New Task Force Set Up to Assess Ireland's Fire Safety Systems
A new task force has been created to carry out an assessment of Ireland's fire safety systems, in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
It's emerged similar cladding was used during refurbishment of County Hall on the Carrigrohane Road in 2006.
The Council have moved to allay fears and say there is a host of fire safety measures in place and they have
commissioned a report on the proper installation of the material in question and have pledged to act on any reccomendations.
The new Task Force consists of senior representatives from national and local government as well as Dublin's Chief Fire Officer.
Announcing the task force Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy said tests are being extended countrywide, on cladding on residential buildings over 6 storeys.
The tests are already underway in the Dublin area.
