New Task Force To Look At Law Into Asylum Seekers Right To Work

The Government has set up a new task force to look at the implications of a landmark ruling on asylum seekers' right to work.

Last May, the Supreme Court ruled that the absolute ban on asylum seekers working was unconstitutional. 

The Department of Justice have published new figures showing a fall in the number of asylum seekers spending over three years in Direct Provision.

Currently, 28 per cent of asylum seekers are long-term residents compared to 64% in 2015.

Speaking to RedFM News CEO of The Irish Immigrant Support Centre Fiona Finn says many residents in Direct Provision are highly skilled and would contribute positively to the economy:
