New teachers urged not to join the JobBridge Scheme

Irish National Teachers Organisation which says the Government's work placement scheme is exploitative of workers
New primary school teachers looking for work are being urged not to join the JobBridge Scheme...
The warning has come from the Irish National Teachers Organisation which says the Government's work placement scheme is exploitative of workers and says it provides no guarantee of future work.
The INTO has also warned that the work will not count towards permanent employment or pensions and teachers who take up the scheme could be cutting themselves off from real employment opportunities.
Nearly four years ago the union issued a directive to its members not to take part in JobBridge.
Peter Mullan of the INTO told RedFM News that paid substitute work or paid fixed term work is the best way for teachers to gain work experience.
