No Response From State On Events Centre

The State has yet to respond to Cork City Council's request for extra funding for the proposed Events Centre in the city
Project developers, BAM, had previously requested an additional €12 million to add to the €20 million of government money which has already been allocated to the project
The application by the City Council for extra funding for the project is currently with the Department of Culture having been submitted in early October.
City Council director of services, Pat Ledwidge, said there is no deadline or timeframe attached to the application while the Culture Minister, Heather Humphreys, says there are complex legal and State aid issues related to the application and the Department is engaging with the city council in relation to these..
Meanwhile
It's feared the delay in the construction of the 6,000 seat Events centre is having an impact on business tourism
Speaking to RedFM News Seamus Heaney of Cork Convention Bureau says they would be able to bid for larger conferences for the city if there was a space available
