No Swansong This Time For Lucky Bird

A swan had a lucky escape on the grounds of Blarney castle after a near death experience with a herd of cattle.
The swan landed in their field and after a stand off with the cattle it failed to escape their stampede.
The scene, which was captured by an Irish Examiner photographer, saw tourists trying to distract the cows as the Garden manager of the Castle leaned over the fence and dragged the swan out of danger.
It's believed defensive instincts kicked in as the herd saw the bird as a threat to their calves.
The swan is now back in the lake - looking a little worse for wear
