Non-Use Of Motor Vehicles Bill Published

The Non-Use of Motor Vehicles Bill 2013 was published today. The new bill, which was launched by Minister Phil Hogan, will allow owners to declare in advance that they will be keeping their vehicle off the road. Where owners tell the motor tax authorities their vehicle will be off the road for a certain period, they will not have to pay motor tax for this time. The aim is to avoid a possible evasion loophole. At present it is possible for owners to declare to their local Garda station that their vehicle was off the road and avoid payment of arrears of motor tax
