North Cork publican says 'drink link' plans need to be adapted

A North Cork publican says plans for a 'drink link' are a step in the right direction but won't go far enough.

 

 

Under the new state-funded scheme a bus will transport rural residents to and from their local pubs.

Here in Cork the initiative will run on the 253 route between Kinsale and Clonakilty, in Banteer and in Rockchapel and Meelin.

It's understood that the new measure will run between June and December and will operate at weekends from 6pm to 11pm.

Speaking to RedFM News Lorraine Murphy of Murphy's bar in Rockchapel says rural isolation is a problem in many parts of North Cork but the scheme will need to be adapted if it's to work properly:
