North Cork Village to retain it's Post Office

A rural village in North Cork will retain it's post office following a hard fought battle with An Post.

Locals in Ballydesmond were uncertain about the future of the post office following the retirement of the local postmistress.

An Post had previously refused to advertise for a replacement, but decided to keep the facility following a strong campaign by residents.

The company says it's now up to the local community to support the Post Office, and use the services on offer as much as possible.
