Norwegian Air Facing Inquiry Following Decision To Ground Cork's Winter Transatlantic Flights

Norwegian Air could be facing an inquiry on foot of it's decision to cancel winter flights from Cork to Boston just nine months after launching a year round service

The airline says it made the decision to suspend its Boston service during the winter due to lower demand.

The leader of the Seanad Cork senator Jerry Buttimer is now leading calls for the airline's management to appear before the Oireachtas Transport Committee to explain why the airline scaled back the flights so soon.

Fears are now high that the long-awaited Cork/New York route will fail to materialise however management at the airport say they're in talks with several airlines in relation to the expansion of their transatlantic services.

Cork Airport's Kevin Cullinane told RedFM News that despite yesterday's announcement the airport is going from strength to strength.
