Norwegian Air says fears the Cork/US airlink would drive down wages are unfounded

Full approval on the permit is dependent on an adjudication period by the US Department of Transportation.

It's emerged that Norweigan Air who are planning to operate transatlantic fights out of Cork gave written assurances over a year ago that it would not hire any crew members from low-wage countries. 

According to today's Irish Examiner a letter was sent to the US department of transportation in June 2015 in which the company committed to use only European and US pilots and crews on transatlantic flights they operate.

The revelation follows fears that the new routes would drive down wages and working conditions on transatlantic routes.

There's been stiff opposition to the routes in the US including the attempt by four US congressman to have a bill introduced in an effort to block the routes.
