Norwegian Airlines Has Not Made Decision On Feasibility Of Cork To New York Route

Norwegian Airlines says it has not yet made a decision on the feasibility of a Cork-New York route despite expanding its transatlantic routes in Shannon and Dublin.

The Irish Examiner reports that the airline will today announce plans expand the number of daily flights from Dublin to New York’s Stewart Airport from April while it will also  double the frequency of its Shannon to Boston-Providence service from March.

However the airline, which operates a Cork to Boston-Providence service, says no decision has been made on the highly anticipated Cork-New York route which it was hoped would follow the Boston flights.

The airine previously told RedFM News that according to their calculations the runway in Cork is too short to for the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft which they started using last year.

However it was hoped that the MAX aircrafts being used would be superior to the prototype and would be able to deliver the New York service - the airline says that assessment is still ongoing

Speaking to RedFM News Norweigan CEO, Bjorn Kjos, says that any New York service would be dependent on calculations:
