Number of St Vincent de Paul clients in Cork who have turned to illegal money lenders is on the decrease

It emerged today that up to 130,000 households who turned to the charity across Ireland in 2016 were in the process of repaying moneylenders who had been charging interest rates of up to 168%

The Cork branch of the charity says although the number of clients who are linked with money lenders is on the decline, many are still finding themselves in difficulty with money lenders.

Speaking to RedFM News Brendan Dempsey of Cork St Vincent de Paul says it's still a problem they're encountering.
