Nurses could take strike action by Christmas
The result of a ballot of members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is due later
An all out strike by emergency department nurses in the lead up to Christmas could be on the cards.
The result of a ballot of members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is due later this morning and it's expected the majority will have voted in favour of strike action.
The INMO says its members are angry at the increased levels of overcrowding in Emergency Departments and say the situation needs to be tackled immediately.
The nature of any strike action will be unveiled later this morning.
Speaking to RedFM News Mary Rose Carroll of the INMO says the conditions for those working in emergency departments are simply not acceptable:
