Nurses to be balloted for industrial action

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says it will ballot its members for industrial action unless pay and staffing levels are restored.

The union says its members cannot cope any longer with reduced salaries, unpaid additional hours and reduced staff numbers.

It says the situation is unsustainable, unacceptable and dangerous.

It comes as Oncology nurses at Cork University Hospital staged a work to rule this week saying staffing levels are inadequate and unsafe in the ward.
