One in every nine children in Ireland live in poverty

Universal Children's Day takes place today to help to highlight the suffering of our youth

97 per cent of Irish children who live in deprived areas say they value education - but are concerned about cyber bullying. 

That's according to a new study which says 'Universal Children's Day' helps to highlight the plight of children in Ireland, especially those living in poverty here.

Access to education is the major barrier preventing parents from adequately providing for their children.

Karen Kiernan from support group One Family says children can't get the basic needs here.
