One leak under a home loses 6 tonnes of water per day
Irish Water say a leak under a home wastes on average 6 tonnes of water a day.
They've been appearing before the Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Water.
Irish Water suggested that water meters could be included as a part of all new builds.
Managing Director of Irish Water Jerry Grant says it would aid conservation, and that leakages are a huge burden on the system.
