Only one member of travelling community completed leaving cert in 2014

The Traveller Visibility Group says their figures indicate that only one member of the travelling community in the city completed their Leaving Cert last year. That figure was revealed as the group says budgetary cuts in Traveller education are disproportionate compared to financial cutbacks of other mainstream educational cuts. Funding for educational supports that were introducted to open doors for Traveller children have been wiped out in successive budgets. AUDIO: Chrissie O'Sullivan of the Traveller Visibility Group told RedFM News that incentives for travellers to stay in education have to be introduced. Click the PLAY button above to hear.
