Opposition to M28 to be voiced at meeting tonight

Local Residents opposed to the M28 are holding a public meeting in Rochestown this evening as they claim the motorway will lead to their quality of life being diminshed.

The M28 Steering Group say the draft Environmental Impact Statement shows that noise levels will quadruple in places in Rochestown due to the removal of trees to facilitate road widening works.

Up to 500 locals in the area have lodged submissions opposing the planned route of the M28 from the Jack Lynch Tunnel to Ringaskiddy.

Ger Harrington of the M28 Steering Group told RedFM News that  it will have a detrimental impact on the 10,000 residents who live along the route:

A public meeting on the matter is being held at the Rochestown Park Hotel tonight at 7pm.
