Option to move waste facility being explored
There are fresh hopes this morning for residents on the northside of the city campaigning for the removal of some waste operations at the Churchfield Industrial Estate which they say is attracting vermin and causing foul odours and noise pollution. It comes after Cork County Council confirmed its considering new ways of using the Bottlehill landfill site in north Cork. A ‘request for information’ on E-tenders is expected to be published within weeks to explore alternative waste treatment options for the region. The news follows a meeting between locals in Churchfield and management at Country Clean where the company indicated its willingness to move operations to the Bottlehill superdump if a deal can be reached with the relevant local authorities.
