OPW And Cork City Council Press Ahead With Proposals For Raised Quay Walls

The proposals are part of a €140 million flood defense plan for Cork
The first phase of the walled scheme at Morrisson's Island is being carried out by the City Council with the remaining phases of the plan set to get ministerial approval later this year..
The Save Cork City Campaign are continuing to oppose the OPW plans and appeal for an alternative plan to be considered
At the weekend a Dutch flood expert told a symposium at UCC that while the OPW's plans would prevent flooding he believes a more balanced approach, which considers a wider set of factors, works well and provides for better outcomes.
OPW Minister Kevin Boxer Moran told RedFM News that he believes the Cork City Flood Relief Scheme Needs To Be Implemented Without Delay
