OPW extends deadline for Flood Defence submissions

The Minister for the OPW says the Lower Lee Flood relief plans should not be divisive, and all options will be considered before any work begins on the project.
Sean Canney was speaking following the announcement that the deadline for making a submission regarding the City's flood defences, has been extended to the 7th of April.
The €140 million euro project has been criticised by the Save Cork City Group, who say the plans would destroy the frontage of the Quay walls and damage the heritage of the city centre.
However the Minister says the extension of the deadline will allow anyone who has any concerns to voice them, and we must not lose sight of the reason these defences need to be put in place.
