Oral hearing into planned incinerator draws to a close
The An Bord Pleanála hearing has lasted 17 days.
Opponents of a planned incinerator in Ringaskiddy say they're willing to take their campaign to the High Court if necessary.
It comes as 17 days of an oral hearing into the planned €160 million facility came to a close today.
An inspector will now examine all the evidence before returning with a recommendation in July.
Local residents and the Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment have been attending the hearing to voice their opposition and have staged demonstrations against the plan citing concerns for tourism and health and safety.
This is the third time waste management company Indaver have put forward a proposal to operate the incinerator - claiming Ireland needs to manage its own waste.
Speaking to RedFM News Linda Fitzpatrick of CHASE says the uncertainty over the application itself will be central to any challenge they take if the project is given the green light.
