Orange Weather Warning in place Leeside
The warning has been issued by Met Éireann.
An Orange Weather Warning has been issued for Cork as Storm Barney sweeps across the country.
Local authorities are asking people to stay indoors and to make sure that bins and loose objects are secure as winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour are expected.
Meanwhile, road users Leeside are being advised to contact local Gardaí if they come across any fallen debris on the roads while passengers at Cork airport are being urged to check the status of their flights in advance of travelling.
Met Eireann forecaster, Willemien Phelan, says severe gusts are also expected.
