Over 200 people have slept rough in Cork City this year

Cork Simon Community have warned that 2016 is set to be the worst Cork city has ever seen in terms of homlessness.
The organisation has reported more that 200 people sleeping rough already this year, in comparason with 2011 when Simon reported 38 people sleeping rough throughout the entire year.
The figures show that if this continues, there would be up to 400 people sleeping rough Leeside by the end of the year.
Its been reported in today's Evening Echo, that Issues such as lack of housing and increasing rents are driving the crisis, with the average monthly rent in Cork City now more than E1,000.
Cork Simon has been operating at more than 100% capacity every night for the past number of years.
Speaking to RedFM News Sophie Johnston from Cork Simon says their outreach team are meeting more and more people each night sleeping rough:
