Over 2,500 Still Without Power

Efforts are continuing to restore power to homes and businesses across the city and county in the aftermath of last week's storms. Over 800 customers have had their power restored already today in the Cork Area. A total of 2553 are still without power in Cork City, North Cork and West Cork. The ESB have advised that customers in small isolated pockets of faults in West and North Cork will be without supply for another few days. Meanwhile Cork County Council and Irish Water have now restored and lifted the Precautionary Boil Water Notice to a very significant number of consumers. The restoration of supply is somwhat dependent on restoration of ESB supply. In the meantime Cork County Council are re-deploying some electricity generators to further pumphouses and mobilising water tankers to other areas where supply is not yet restored AUDIO: Speaking to Cork's RedFM Divisional Manager with ESB Networks Denis Cambridge says they hope to restore power to a significant number before the day is out.
