Over €26,000 Of Fines Issued To Drivers Flouting Patrick St Private Car Ban

The bus corridor on Cork's main street was reintroduced in August
Figures obtained by RedFM News reveal 326 drivers received the €80 fixed charge penalty notice for driving on the bus priority corridor between the 9th of August and Wednesday of this week.
The daily private car ban was re-introduced in August following backlash from traders who said the ban was hitting their takings and forcing them to cut staff hours.
Bus Eireann say passenger numbers at the end of last year were up 14% and that journey times have decreased significantly
Speaking to RedFM News, Derry Coughlan from the Cork branch of the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation says the ban is working, but more enforcement is needed
