Over €7 million paid by City Council in compensation cases

Almost 500 claims were made by the public in response to injuries sustained following falls on footpaths.

According to a report in the Evening Echo, 491 claims have been taken against the city council since 2010.

Meanwhile a further €4.6 million euro has been paid since 2014, from claims by raod users in relation to damages caused by road conditions such as potholes and cracks.

A spokesperson for Cork City Council stated that City Hall only pays out in cases where the council have been proven to be at fault in court.
