Overcrowding set to continue in Cork hospitals

Overcrowding in Emergency Departments may be a permanent feature in the future of Irish Healhtcare.

That's according to Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Mercy University Hospital Dr Chris Luke.

It comes as the Mercy Hospital issued it's second warning in a week about the surge in activity at the hospitals ED unit.

22 people are currently receiving treatment on hospital trolleys and patients are facing long delays.
