Overwhelming public support for Cork mum on her protest march to Dail

"Overwhelming" - that's how Vera Twomey has described the level of support she has received from the public on her protest walk to the dail.

Vera is on the fifth day of her walk from Cork to Dublin, in an effort to highlight the plight of her 7 year old daughter Ava.

Ava has a rare form of epilepsy, and needs medicinal cannabis in order to ease the seizures she suffers as a result.

Vera is determined to continue on to the Dail, and is calling on the Government to implement legislative change in order for her daughter to legally be able to receive the life - saving product.

Public support for the plight of Ava continues to grow, as hundreds of people across Cork City and County are planning to come together in the "Stand Up for Ava" campaign between 1 and 2pm tomorrow.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Vera says she needs the Government to act on Ava's behalf as a matter of urgency:
