Paramedics arriving at the scene where Jason Corbett died were greeted by an 'awful spectacle'

The trial is getting underway in North Carolina
Testimonies from emergency services, in the opening week in the murder trial of Limerick man Jason Corbett, detailed gory scenes which were backed up in court by graphic photographs.
Evidence for the prosecution focused on the amount of blood at the scene, the 911 call made by the accused Molly Martens Corbett and Thomas Martens, the weapons found at the scene and the injuries sustained by Jason Corbett.
Ralph Riegel, Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent is covering the trial in North Carolina.
